21 May Thriving During COVID-19 – Hearing God in Times of Crisis
“One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision: “Do not be afraid; keep on speaking, do not be silent. 10 For I am with you, and no one is going to attack and harm you, because I have many people in this city.” 11 So Paul stayed in Corinth for a year and a half, teaching them the word of God.” – Acts 18:9-11
One of the greatest blessings of being a believer in Christ Jesus is our ability to hear from God. Sometimes things become cloudy, and the goings get so tough that our reasoning cannot help us. No amount of information data can guide; we must rely on God to lead us, so we know what to do. It is a blessing in those moments to hear the voice and understand what he is saying to us.
Apostle Paul found himself in this situation while in Corinth, with a lot of opposition to his assignment and even threat to his life. Bound with a calling to preach the gospel and a passion for fulfilling God’s call, he was faced with so much abuse, and his only option seems to be to leave and found somewhere else. But he heard the voice of God which told him to stay. God told him, “I have many people in this city,” meaning many people earmarked for salvation are here. Paul listened to God, stayed there for one and a half years, and the Lord protected him and prospered the work. Out of that obedience came the famous Corinthians church, and out that came two wonderful epistles (1st and 2nd Corinthians) that give us a lot about insight into the gift of the spirit and the ways of God.
Hearing God is a necessity to thriving under challenging circumstances of life. And we can hear Him if we are willing to ask. Do you know that God is still blessing people even in these troubled times? People who are following His voice are still thriving in their assignment. The truth is it does not matter so much what the pundits, experts, and media are saying; there is still favor of God over His people who are in the place they need to be. The real question is, what is God telling you during this season? Ask God for the grace to hear His voice and for the courage to obey Him when He speaks.
May God bless you and remember to Stay CALM, SAFE, CLEAN, and SANCTIFIED.
